Competition includes classification for Middle/Junior High
Schools, and Senior High School groups. Middle and Junior High School groups
will only compete against each other. Classifications have been determined to
ensure fairness and optimum performance opportunity.
The judging panel will consist of three adjudicators for choral
and instrumental (Jazz band will have two adjudicators). There will be no sight
reading or required numbers. Groups may elect to participate for festival
rating, or for awards in competition. Each school may enter up to five (5)
choral groups.
Parade and Auxiliary Performances will be held on Saturday
(some exceptions may apply).
PLEASE NOTE: All music performed will be adjudicated.
Requirements of each group include three compositions: a
warm-up, and two selections from the group's state list, NBA Manual, or from
any accredited listing.
Time allowed for the performance will be determined by the
grade of music selected.
FIESTA-VAL will provide music stands and chairs, podium,
piano, chimes, xylophone, four timpani, concert bass drum and marimba.
*Any orchestra consisting of less than 10 members will receive
a rating only and will
not be eligible for competition.
CLASSIFICATIONS:
Division I: Middle and Junior High Schools
Division I Open: Middle and Junior High Schools (2nd group
only)
Senior High School classification will be according to the
grade level of music chosen by the group or Open Class.
Division II: Grade 2 Music
Division III: Grade 3 Music
Division IV: Grade 4 Music
Division V: Grade 5 Music
Division VI: Grade 6 Music
Open Class Division: Any grade level of music accepted
The director will choose two selections for the group's
performance. Each group will perform one warm-up (if desired) and two
compositions of the Director’s choice suitable for festival use. Electrical
receptacle, piano, chairs and stands will be provided.
CLASSIFICATIONS:
No enrollment requirement will be set for Middle or Junior High Schools.
Division I: Middle and Junior High Schools
Division I Open: Middle and Junior High Schools (2nd group
only)
Senior High Schools will be classified according to the outline
which follows.
Division II: 801 and below
Division III: 802 to 1301
Division IV: 1302 and above
Open Class Division: Second Group only
The movement of groups from their qualifying division will only
be permitted to a division with greater enrollment.
Each school may enter more than one jazz band; however, the
second group must enter Open Class.
Participation is required for the entire parade length. Forward
motion must be maintained by the band proper or a 10 point penalty will be
imposed.
The basis for the judges' evaluations will be music, marching,
and general effect. Auxiliaries will be judged separately and also included in
the evaluation of the band's
overall performance.
CLASSIFICATIONS:
Division I: Middle School and Junior High School
Division II: 61 and below
Division III: 62 to 81
Division IV: 82 and above

NOTE: Should less than 2 bands register in the Parade category,
the event will be eliminated. Deadline for Parade registration is no later than
one month prior to the festival.
All members must be currently enrolled in the represented
school. Each performance must consist of a minimum of 3 minutes and a maximum
of 7 1/2 minutes.
Indoor Guard - Each unit will consist of not
than less than eight (8) members
Flag Squad, Rifle Squad, Majorette Squad, Drill Team &
Dance Team - Each unit will consist of not less than three
(3) members.
Marching Drum Line - (Marching and Maneuvering
Required)
Percussion Ensemble - (No Marching and
Maneuvering Required)
